Vaping Was Banned at Arizona State University
Vapers at Arizona State University – soon, you won’t be able to vape on campus anymore. ASU announced on last Friday the university would add vaping to its campus-wide tobacco ban starting on July 1, 2019.
The updated policy posted online includes “electronic smoking devices,” which the policy defines as “devices that simulate smoking through inhalation of vapor or aerosol from the device, including e-cigarettes, e-cigars, e- pipes, vape pens, and all forms of smoking tobacco.”
The ban will apply to all university property, including buildings ASU owns or leases, grounds, parking garages, and university-owned vehicles. The only exceptions are in privately owned vehicles on public roads and at leased university dorms that allow smoking.
A violation of the policy could mean discipline. The first violation is a warning, and the second violation is a $50 fine. Violating the policy three times means an additional $50 fine and referral to the dean of students.
