The OBS Cube X box mod was sent from Cigabuy for the purpose of review, and I have used it for 2 weeks now. The Cube X is a new member in the OBS Cube line after Cube and Cube Mini.

The new Cube X got the same cube-like shape and also fires up to 80W, however there are 2 differences.

• Size – the Cube X is a little bit taller and wider than Cube.
• Battery – the Cube X takes a single 18650 battery for power, while the Cube houses a 3000mAh built-in battery.

Design & Building

This cube shaped box mod is very simple both in appearance and function. For the appearance, you can find a big 0.96 inch LED display and 3 buttons, 1 micro usb charging port, decorated with attractive colors. I believe they are not resin panels.

The 510 thread is standarded, 510 pin centered, no problem to connect with a 24mm atomizer.

The battery is replaceable, so good to see OBS made it on the new Cube X. Battery replaceble box mods can be used longer based on my experience, no need to worry about battery dead problem.

Functions

The Cube X is a very simple mod as I mentioned previously – no TC, no bypass and VV. Simply variable wattage mode: 5W – 80W. So if you use TC/Bypass modes regularly, this new Cube X mod will bring you some trouble, not a good choice for you. But if you’re a new vaper or just use VW mode, this Cube X will be no problem for you. Here are some basic operations:

• Turn on/off – 5 clicks the fire button. There is a problem – turning the device off will reset the puff counter. Why? There is no way to lock the device when it was put in my pocket, I have to turn it off to avoid mis-fire in my pocket. But it reseted my puff counter to 0. This is not cool.
• While you can’t lock the fire button, you can lock the adjustment buttons to avoid accident wattage switching – press either adjustment button three times, then select your vaping wattage, then press the fire button and it will lock. To unlock, press the adjustment button 3 times again.

Locking the wattage is good, but I do want to lock the fire button. Now, I always turn it off while it’s in my pocket.

Performance

Overall, the Cube X 80W mod worked pretty well, its very simple to use and its compact size enables me to bring it everywhere by putting it in my pocket.
