VOOPOO Argus Pro Review – Drag S Killer?

Spread the love

The Argus Pro by VOOPOO was sent from HealthCabin for the purpose of review.

The Argus Pro is a new product in their Argus series, including Argus Air, Argus GT, Argus, Argus Pro and Argus X. Now they used the famous PnP pod tanks on the Argus series. Let’s check it how it vapes and will it able to match the Drag X or Drag S in this review.

Design & Quality

First impression on the Argus Pro – the same thing as the Drag X/S, quite similar in appearance, both are equipped with a similar chip, same airflow system and both use the same pods/coils. Of course, there are some differences, the Argus Pro followed the appearance of Argus series as you can see there are some spoiled paints on the body and they did not hide the screws. Meanwhile, they added a hook on the body for you to connect it with your lanyards. Unfortunately, if you dont like the hook design, you cannot remove it.

Overall, the whole kit feels pretty solid in hands. Buttons & screen respond very well and feel properly installed, no rattling. Like always with the Gen chips, it just fires up like a rocket.

In the kit you get a rubber tank protector whish kind of feels more to be useful design wise than protection wise, the PnP pods are made from hard plastic, so there is no reason to add any additional protection in my opinion. I also prefer the looks without.

The Argus Pro Device

The Argus Pro device comes with a 3000mAh built-in battery, which is larger than that of Drag S. The big 0.96 inch TFT color screen will show you everything you want to know. I also love the big clicky buttons. The top connection part is the same with Drag X, same airflow adjustment system.

Here are some simple operations:

  • 5 clicks on/of
  • 3 clicks to switch between modes: RBA A&P, RBA P, Smart A&P and Smart P
  • Fire-button and down to reset puff counter
  • Fire-button and up to lock the device

The device can be charged via the 5V/2A USB C charging port under the up & down buttons. It may need 90 minutes to get it fully charged.

The PnP Pod & Coils

They are totally the same with the ones in Drag X, and I believe many vapers have already used them for a while, so I will not introduce them in details here. It is a nice pod and just works well and has no major issues with leaking or filling. It has a large fill-hole on the bottom for a mess-free fill and the coil options in these pods are just endless. You can choose between 12 different PnP coils which range from 10 to 80W, choice between DTL, Restricted DTL and MTL coils. That is obviously a good thing, cool options.

In general, I like the PnP coils, all of them. The performance of the DTL and MTL coils are similar apart from the vaper production. Flavor is good on the PnP coils and they generally last quite long, depending on your juice of course. I do have a feeling that PnP coils are not always performing exactly the same, sometimes exactly the same type of coil loses the flavor after 4-5 days already while the exact same coil type that I put in next suddenly provides good flavor for almost 2 weeks. I did read somewhere on the internet that it helps a lot on PnP coils to comb the wicking ports out a bit so that the cotton is not too tightly packed in there, and it does help quite a bit.

Pros

  • Huge battery capacity
  • Good flavor as usual
  • Tons of coil options
  • Large colorful screen
  • Easy to use

Cons

  • Useless rubble pod protector
  • Useless hook design

Conclusion

Again, another good performance pod mod from VOOPOO, well if I have to pick one from Argus Pro and Drag S, I think I will pick Argus Pro out of its bigger battery capacity and same PnP coils!

Even though I really like the PnP pod devices, I really wish Voopoo will come with something else next time. The devices are all slightly different, but still, the coils are all the same and the vape as well.
