Upgraded? Wotofo Profile 1.5 RDA Review

The Profile 1.5 Mesh RDA was sent from Wotofo for the purpose of review. They finally came out a new version after the big success of Profile RDA and Profile Unity RTA. Of course, the new Profile 1.5 RDA was just another project cooperated by Wotofo and Mr.justright1. But why it was named Profile 1.5, not Profile 2 or Profile Pro? Lets explore the reasons in this review.

In the Box

Design & Building Quality

The diameter of the new Profile 1.5 RDA is the same with original Profile RDA, both are 24mm, but it is obvious that the Profile 1.5 RDA owns a bigger building deck, wider space for mesh strips and a deeper juice well, it should be a good improvement here. At the same time, the top cap of the Profile 1.5 RDA is thiner than the original Profile RDA.

The construction is solid and whole box came to me clean and nicely. Another improvement was the airflow options – now you can have more airflow options on the Profile 1.5 RDA, which allows for full adjustment of the bottom airflow only, or you can add the top row for even more airflow.

Building & Wicking

Buidling the Profile 1.5 RDA is very easy with below steps:

• Use the blend tool to blend the mesh strips
• Use the screw driver to loose the deck
• Put the blended mesh strip into the deck and fasten the screws
• Connect the deck to your mod and fire it to check the heating status
• Then wick it – put 3pcs of cotton strip into the deck then cut it to your desired shape…

Overall, building and wicking the Profile 1.5 RDA is pretty easy. The ceramic block style may be better for juice distribution when squonking but I did not notice any differences.

Airflow

Though the Profile 1.5 RDA offers more airflow options, do they work for me? Maybe 50% to 50%.

When the top airflow all open and bottom airflow all closed, the airflow did not come down to the coil like Wotofo described, as the mesh coil is a bit flat. So in this case, you can feel just like you’re drawing air, flavor is not good.

Meanwhile, when the top airflow all closed and bottom airflow all open, you can get much better flavor. Personally, I love the bottom airflow all open and 2 top airflow slots open to get best flavor and vapor production.

3 Mesh Strips & Performance

Wotofo supplies 3 different mesh strips in the new Profile 1.5 RDA, so which is the best?

Unfortunately, all of them are not compatible with the original Profile RDA, or the Profile Unity RTA as the strips are 1.4 times wider. The recommend wattage range for them are the same: 60-80W. Lets check their flavor performance at 70W:

• nexMESH CHILL – The flavor is almost the same with the original Profile RDA with 0.18ohm mesh, not bad;
• nexMESH TURBO – The flavor is even better than the CHILL, got satisfied..
• nexMESH EXTREME – wow, this is what surprised me, best flavor

As for the vapor production, there is no doubt that all mesh strips produced lots of cloud.
