Days ago I reviewed the Freemax GEMM kit, a vape pen that used disposable tanks, which delivered good flavor. Today I got the new GEMM Pod Mod kit from Freemax. Unlike other pod mods, the GEMM pod mod came with a disposable tank. Anyway, lets check how it vapes in this review.

Design & Quality

Visually, I will never treat it as a pod mod out of that 510 disposable tank. Or we can say the GEMM is the world’s first pod mod came with a 510 tank. The whole kit looks pretty cheap, while it is much lighter than other pod mods. So it will be portable to carry it every where.

The kit came with 2 pods, both are 2ml in capacity but with different coils: 0.5ohm DTL coil and 1.0ohm MTL coil.

There are some prints on the back of the battery body, looks good. 4 colors are available.

The Device

The device came with a 1300mAh built-in battery, which is just enough for me to vape it whole day long. The device is very light in weight, once I believe it is a plastic tube not the zinc alloy.

The fire button is large and clicky, not rattle. Unfortunately, there is no USB C port for charging, it is the old style micro USB port.

There are 3 wattage levels can be selected based on the coil resistance detected. The max wattage is 25W. The color of the “Watt” on the screen will tell you the current wattage level. For example, if you’re vaping with the 0.5ohm pod, the color of “watt” on the screen is Green, then it means the current wattage is 25W.

You can change the wattage levels by clicking the fire button 3 times.

Also, there are four levels of battery life indicator to tell you when to charge the battery: 100%, 75%, 50% and 25%.

Overall, the operation is very easy.

The Pod/Tank

Same with the previous GEMM disposable tanks, the new Gemm pod design is very similar. Coils can not be replaced, fills from the top, airflow is adjustable, 2ml juice capacity.

Freemax promoted a new designed coil in this new pod: SS904L. The kit came with 2 pods with different coil resistance: 0.5ohm for DTL and 1.0ohm for MTL.

Performance

I have used this kit for about 10 days now. Overall, I am happy with the battery life and the coil life span or the refill times. Charge it once a day is very good, and a pod is able to fill it around 17 times before it lost flavor or died.

0.5ohm DTL pod: personally I love to vape with it at 25W, airflow 3/4 open to get the best balance between the flavor and vapor production.
1.0ohm MTL pod: recommends 15W, airflow all closed to get the best flavor.
No leaking for both pods.

Summary

The Freemax GEMM pod mod kit is a friendly starter kit for any one. The pod life and battery life is impressive. And the operation is very easy though you may not like the cheap plastic looking of the kit. But dont be played by appearance.
