Lostvape Gemini Hybrid 80W Kit Review

Spread the love

The Gemini Hybrid 80W Pod Mod was sent from Lostvape for the purpose of review.

Well previously I have reviewed some similar devices, such as Vapeonly Space, Hotcig Sniper & Wellon Beyond AIO, they are all powered by single 18650 battery and the overall structure is similar too. Gemini Hybrid by Lostvape is the latest one, lets see what make it outstanding in this review.

Design & Quality

The package came to me very fast and everything was perfect. I love the green one I received. Well, my first impression on this kit when I opened the package was – wow what a shining big kit. The overall size is a bigger than other pod mods, it is a bulky kit at my hands.

The kit was well machined, every part was put at right position without any hassle. It is solid enough with the Zinc alloy structure. While I dont like the sharp edges, why not make them all a bit round?

The buttons are clicky, big screen shows everything you need to know. Unfortunately, why micro USB charging port? Its 2020! Though I do not recommend users to charge 18650 battery via this charging port.

When you remove the back panel, you will see the inside structure of the Gemini Hybrid – a 18650 battery slot & a pod slot, pretty simple right?

There is are some slots on the back panel for you to check juice level in the pod, also for airflow! The back panel was held on by a decently strong magnet, it wont come off the box easily.

Overall, this is a bulky pod mod, colors are shining.

Gemini Hybrid Device

LostVape Gemini Hybrid Screen

Obviously, Lostvape used the same UI for Gemini Hybrid and Thelema – same screen size, same displayed info, same layout, same operations. The 0.96 inch screen is simple but still looks stylish and manages to make good use of its colour ability, with the changeable themes.

Here are some easy operations:

  • Turn On/Off: press fire button 5 times
  • Change theme color: press Fire & Up buttons at the same time
  • Clear puff counter: press Fire & Down buttons at the same time
  • Lock the wattage: press Up & Down buttons at the same time, when locked you cannot change the wattage, but the fire button still works.

Gemini Hybrid Pod

LostVape Gemini Hybrid Pod

The pod for the Gemini Hybrid is thick, tall, and wide. It holds up to 4ml of ejuice which is good enough for my wholeday vaping. The pod is clear to see the juice level. The filling hole is big enough for all kinds of bottle tips. The filling port is plugged by a rubber stopper, which is very secure and holds ejuice in without leaks.

Coil changing is easy but it is not a plug and go system, as the coil is screwed on a airflow control ring. You need to pull out the ACF ring at first, then replace a new coil on the AFC ring, plug it back to vape!

Taking the pod out of the device slot is easy also, but you need to remove the 510 drip tip at first.

Gemini Hybrid Coils & RBA

The Gemini Hybrid comes with two coils:

  • 1 x 0.2ohm UB M4 Coil (40-60W)
  • 1 x 1.0ohm UB MTL Coil (8-15W)
  • Meanwhile other UB coils are also compatible with Gemini Hybrid.

While the RBA coil is sold separately, it is a 2 post single coil setup, and easy to build it up for any rebuildable vapers. There’s an airflow hole on the bottom of the deck that funnels airflow up and through the coil.

Gemini Hybrid 510 Adapter

It is a good idea to have a 510 adapter in the kit, so that you can use you atomizers on it, now the Gemini Hybrid is a 80W box mod for you. Unfortunately, there is only 1 working mode – VW only.

Performance

Overall, I had a good vaping experience with the Gemini Hybrid kit, the 18650 battery offers a decent vaping time, charge my SONY VTC6 once a day. No leaking issue, no split back and good coil life span, each coil may work 7-9 refills before there is a clear flavor drop. The whole device may get a bit hot after a chain vaping of some minutes.

  • 0.2ohm coil – I got best experience at 58W with airflow 80% opened. Flavor is good but not the best compared to other similar products, vapor is a warm, vapor production is good though. Draw is smooth.
  • 1.0ohm coil – I got best experience at 15W with airflow 30% opened. For a MTL coil, I also changed to use the MTL drip tip, again, the flavor is better than that of 0.2ohm coil, vapor production is acceptable.
  • RBA coil – I used the coil that came with the RBA, 0.5ohm, there’s no airflow adjustment on the RBA so you get what you get in terms of the draw. My best setup was 30W, the flavor from RBA is far better than the pre-made coils with good vapor production.

Summary

The Gemini Hybrid comes with everything you could want for a kit. The flavor for MTL vapers is not the best, there are better options in the market. The RBA coil is good for DL vapers though. What do you think about the Gemini Hybrid? Share me your voice in comments below.
