Vapefly Jester Review

Spread the love

The Jester 2-in-1 pod system was sent from Vapefly for the purpose of review. The Jester is one of the first rebuildable dripping pod systems in the market, maybe a bit earlier than the Smoant Pasito. I received a 2-in-1 matt back version, came with a mesh coil pod and a rebuildable pod. Lets see how it vapes.

Design & Building

No big complaint here for the appearance and it feels pretty solid in hands. Its size is ok for me, a bit bigger than the Renova Zero. The connection part of the kit is not the magnetic system we have seen in many pod systems, it was a lock system like the Aspire Breeze 2, there are 2 spring-loaded buttons at each side of the kit, you will lock the pod on the battery by squeezing them together. I like this locking system – easy and secure. The kit came with 2 different pods – meshed pod with replaceable coil and rebuildable pod for DIY.

The Battery

The Jester battery came with 1000mAh capacity, which is enough for a whole day vaping. Here are some easy operations and indicators:

Operations:

  • 5 clicks the power button – turn it on/off
  • 3 clicks the power button – select the working voltage mode

Indicators:

  • Purple: 3.3 V
  • Blue: 3.8 V
  • Green 4.8 V

Attention: Vapefly limited your choice of working voltage if your coil resistance is below 0.8ohm, only 3.3V and 3.8V levels will work, meanwhile, you can still select the 4.8V, but it won’t fire. In the package, there is a 0.5ohm mesh coil, which is not compatible with 4.8V. All of the other coils will work for all voltage levels.

Biggest con here is there is no battery level indicator, so make sure to charge it at least once a day. Charging is fast, it may take 1 hour or so to get it fully charged via the micro USB port at the bottom.

Meshed Pod

The meshed pod has an adjustable airflow ring, but you have to remove the pod from the battery to adjust it. The airflow goes from a tight MTL to a loose MTL.

To fill the pod, you will find the filling hole with a black silicone plug after removing the top cap. It holds up to 2ml ejuice.

Change the coil, its a tough job here, as the whole base was too tight to get it out. You will take some time to get it done.

Rebuildable Pod

The deck of the rebuildable pod is very simple for single coil building with a direct-to-coil bottom-fed airflow. The whole structure is similar with a RDTA, deck is over the tank. Also it is very easy to build it up for single coil setup.

The main difference with the meshed pod is that there is no airflow adjustment on the rebuildable pod. But for MTL vaping, the airflow is enough for me.

If you dont use the pre-built coils came with the package, there is no way to check the coil resistance you made by yourself, as there is no 510 adapter for the deck and the Jeste battery did not came with a screen to show the resistance. So, its better to buy pre-made coils which came with detailed resistance info.

Performance

The whole kit was designed for MTL vaping regardless of the pod style. I have used this kit over 3 weeks – 1 week for meshed pod and 2 weeks for the rebuildable pod.

  • Meshed pod – I love the flavor, it’s better than many pod systems in flavor, and the vapor production is also good. Coil life is also good, no problem for it to work 7 days.
  • Rebuildable pod – Falvor is also fantastic and good vapor production. While the airflow, for me it is too tight MTL drawing. And there are possibilities of leaking if the kit was upsidedown.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Good flavor for both pods
  • Easy build deck
  • 3 output voltage levels
  • Adjustable airflow for meshed pod
  • Drip tip is comfortable

Cons:

  • Meshed pod – very hard to change a coil
  • There is no battery level indicator
  • Rebuildable pod – No way to check the coil resistance
